To update… Joey’s has shingles. Shingles are typically caused from stress and worry. 😦 It’s only contagious if it’s skin to skin contact so I’m not too worried about anyone rubbing his neck. Shingles is very painful. I wish I could make him all better.
I’m so sorry that your son is now enduring shingles. Thank God his surgery went well earlier this year and he’s living a somewhat normal life. I’m not sure how I’d reassure my son if I were in your shoes. I might start with trying to reassure myself. Meditating helps me when I’m stressed as does yoga. I think our children look to us, their parents, to gauge if everything is ok. If mom’s not too stressed out, or life is getting back to normal, then I guess everything is going to be ok. They look to our cues and our actions to see how their world is fairing. I see this in my life and I try to mirror as much normalcy as I can. Traditions help a lot. This time of year, getting out the decorations and continuing on with gratitude can really lift up children. Having play-dates (if possible due to illness) can help too.
Thank you for your suggestions Laura. I will try some of this. My friend is trying to get him to be open to the idea of meditation or yoga. So far no luck but we are working on it. 🙂 Thank you
With time it will get easier. It is still new, and the worry hasn’t faded. You do an amazing job with both of your children and are always on top if their aches and pains. You don’t let anything slip by and like you said have him at the dr if you believe something could be wrong. He is in great hands ❤
